50 Points for Kyrie Irving, Still Being Defeated

50 points. First Game of the season. Records set. A lot of pressure for point guard Kyrie Irving as he stepped out for his debut with the Brooklyn Nets. After Irving walked away from a hard loss last playoffs against the Milwaukee Bucks, a chip was set on his shoulder and eyes were on him. Tonight Irving showcased his adroitness as he set his first record with the Brooklyn Nets, scoring 32 points, being the player with the most points set as a Brooklyn Net during a debut. After a quick takeoff, Irving continued to mesmerize the crowd as he surpassed Kiki Vandeweghe, a small forward who scored 47 points in his debut in 1984, setting yet another record with 48 points. As the game came to an end Irving ended with 50 points, but the Timberwolves seemed to have outplayed the Nets. The 127-126 victory in overtime for the Timberwolves left Irving feeling empty as he proclaims “The job wasn't done…” quickly followed by “...It holds value, but not when you don't get a win.”
